Update on Laia Foundation’s Health Project
FLM

Laia Foundation works to detect cases of child malnutrition in Vedanthangal Panchayat. While we are monitoring infants’ health throughout the year, twice a year our health workers conduct health camps to record their weight, arm contour and height. This data allows us to detect cases of infant malnutrition and its grade of malnutrition. There are five different grades: those not suffering malnutrition, grade 1, 2, 3 and 4. Children who are in grades 3 and 4 are considered to be in critical condition. Our health workers provide awareness to their parents, explaining to them how to improve their infants’ nutrition and the importance of keeping proper hygiene habits. These families are also strongly advised to visit their paediatrician urgently.

Two volunteers from Barcelona assisted Laia Foundation’s workers in our most recent health camps.
